"As I cry your name out to the heavens, Catherine, I swear it! I will chase you to the ends of an earth that will never again see the light of day, for the only light I see is that which pierces through your eyes and the only warmth I feel is that which emanates from your cadaver.
I have forgotten myself, I have drawn the blade across my face until I carved it clean of features, until the only countenance I could recall is the reflection of your own, and still it mocks me. To kiss the crimson lips inside the mirror as if they weren’t stained by my own hands, to claim such beauty as my own would be to desecrate it!
Whispers cry out now to chide me, the wind that whistles through the windowpane condemns me from beyond as the face I see before me weeps and pleads for my forgiveness. In my haste to dry its tears I shattered the image, drenching your ruined vanity in broken glass and dark sanguine, until the wails withered into silence and I blinded myself with grief..."
