What is nightcore? Simply put, it's music but faster! Nightcore was one of my main entry points into otaku culture and as of writing this it's been the background music to my life since around 2014, but even then I was late to the trend. Not as late as TikTok though (¬‿¬ )
I wanted to make this shrine because it's something I genuinely have a lot of love and nostalgia for. Back in middle school I used to listen to nightcore every day while playing Minecraft or League of Legends, and even if it was a rough age for me overall I wanted to bottle up my happiest memories from that time period and share them with the world.
So what separates nightcore from "sped up" music? Personally, I think it has to call itself nightcore, have an anime cover and either be from the 00s/10s or trying to replicate nightcore videos from that time. If you have a stricter or looser criteria I respect that too! There's no one right way to go about it, ultimately I think nightcore is whatever you think it should be.
Why listen to nightcore, then? I don't know, but it's pretty fun!
